The BLU 400 is a blister machine conceived for the packaging of syringes, ampoules, vials, cartridges, bottles, and pens in clamp packs or sealed blisters. The focus is on gentle product handling. In addition, the fully automated packaging system meets other key factors governing the packaging of parenterals: flexible machine design, economic efficiency, and high productivity.
Gentle product handling when packaging parenteral products enhances productivity: the more carefully the products are treated, the fewer the damages. In turn, that means fewer rejects, reduced cleaning, less reworking, and shorter downtimes.
Easy cleaning and fast changeovers also have a positive impact on the overall output. Smooth surfaces, the cantilever design offering good visibility, and easy accessibility simplify cleaning and line clearance. A changeover to other products or blisters involves just a few format parts, for which no tools are required.
Automatic positioning of the heating, forming, sealing, embossing, and perforation stations ensures a reliable process. Product-related data only have to be entered once into the integrated format management system. The information is then available via the SmartControl operating system.
SmartControl is a graphical interface that provides process-oriented, intuitive user guidance. A clear optical appearance, unmistakable icons, and self-explanatory widgets help operators to quickly familiarize themselves with the packaging machine. Digital assistants support your personnel during the pharmaceutical packaging process, ensuring reliability and saving time, particularly when frequent product changeovers are necessary.
Positioning of the products in the blister can be lengthwise or crosswise to the web. This enables efficient use of the full web width of 300 millimeters on the BLU 400. The single-cycle handling, customized Uhlmann feeders, and a rotary table at the end of the machine make this possible. The rotary table turns the filled blisters 180° or 270° so they are correctly positioned for insertion into the cartons. Cartoner C 2304 is an optimal match for the BLU 400. In addition, Uhlmann offers the two cartoners C 2156 and C 2206, each with a 6" pitch.
Attaining a maximum output of 300 cartons per minute, the Cartoner C 2305 is a top performer when it comes to in-house or contract packaging. It is particularly suitable for the high output of small and medium-sized blisters. Cartons up to 105 x 105 x 155 mm are processed. A key feature of the continuous-motion cartoner is the intelligent product loading function that automatically adjusts to various stack heights. It provides optimal working conditions for operating personnel: the carton magazine is adjustable in height for comfortable operating and cleaning. The innovative protective doors permit easy access to all areas. Enclosure of the leaflet folder reduces sound emission. All in all, the Cartoner C 2305 ideally complements the Blister machine BLU 400. Both components are also the perfect match in terms of setup times: as all the format-related stations are adjusted automatically, a changeover on the Cartoner C 2305 can be completed in just 15 minutes. Straightforward operation combined with top performance, quality, and efficiency.
The cartoners C 2156 and C 2206 attain a maximum output of 150 and 200 cartons per minute. The respective maximum carton sizes of 130 x 100 x 250 mm and 130 x 100 x 200 mm make these cartoners suitable for very large and deep blisters, as often needed for p products. The continuous-motion cartoners, each with a 6-inch pitch, cover a broad application spectrum. They are ideal for the highly productive, safe packaging of widely varying products and the reliable processing of all carton qualities. It goes without saying that all standard leaflet folders – whether fed from stacks or reels – can be integrated. The cantilever construction of the machines, primarily using stainless steel and safety glass, permits good visibility and easy cleaning; factors that also contribute to fast format changeovers. Furthermore, the few format parts are easily exchanged on the C 2156 and C 2206. The patented, rotary carton pick-up with a mechanical pre-break function ensures uniform, high-quality carton processing. All in all, both the Cartoner C 2156 and the Cartoner C 2206 optimally complement the Blister BLU 400 – for the reliable, fast, and cost-efficient packaging of parenteral products.
The LiPro feeder is extremely flexible and particularly appropriate for fragile receptacles such as vials, cartridges, and ampoules. LiPro stands for “liquid products”, because the servo-driven system is specifically designed to handle parenteral products. A vibratory plate is used to avoid damage to ampoules, vials, cartridges and bottles as they are moved to the pick-up position. A pneumatic slider first evenly distributes the products, before a rake pushes them into lanes. They move into the slots of the separating roller from there. A 90-degree turn of the roller brings the products into a horizontal position. The vacuum suction cups on a robot take the products from the separating roller and place them accurately in the formed pockets. The LiPro feeder is conceived for the gentlest possible product handling in order to avoid breakage, while operating at high speed and with utmost efficiency.
The SyPro feeder uses vacuum suction cups to gentle place syringes, with or without a needle guard, in blisters. The short form SyPro stands for “syringes products”. First the glass or plastic syringes are conveyed to the feeding unit in an upright position. Vibrating bars transport the products in a guide elbow, turning them to a horizontal position ready for placement in a continuous-motion prism conveyor. Finally, a swivel-arm robot with vacuum suction cups picks the syringes from the conveyor and places them in the preformed pockets. The manual insertion of parenteral products or accessories is also an option with the SyPro feeder.
Integrated product position monitoring in the press-in station and other specific features minimize product damage, downtimes, and cleaning.
Products and blisters can be rotated so optimum use is made of the full web. Combined with fast format changeovers, maximum productivity is attained.
